After reading this I am 100% certain that you will enjoy at least THREE of these 6 indoor hobbies! Let’s begin!
#1 Stretching
I know this sounds basic but there are so many stretches out there to do! I always used to work out without stretching or warming up before and I can say that I have very much noticed a faster recovery time, my poor muscles before…There are many different stretches to target different areas like your back, hips, hips, and legs. I started doing 30 mins stretches (Blogilates on YouTube) 2-3 times a week for a month and a half and I am almost able to do the splits! I started off very inflexible it’s truly amazing what your body can do. Here are reasons why you need to start stretching as a hobby:
- You don’t have to pay for a program, you can just YouTube stretching videos!
- Stretching can improve your posture!
- Stretching can reduce back pain!
- Stretching before doing any physical activities can prevent injuries!
- Stretching is peaceful and can relieve stress.

#2 Reading
Many people will look at this hobby and say “I don’t like reading” but before you do that you need to realize that there are endless topics to read about, seriously google anything you’re going through or find interesting, and a book will come up for the topic. When I was younger my parents would always give me 30 mins to stay up before bed, but the rule was that I had to read before bed, they did this because it lowers your energy level and helped us sleep every night before bed. Reading is also the best way to learn things for a very cheap price compared to paying for courses. Here’s why you need to start reading:
- Reduces your stress!
- A good way to be able to fall asleep quickly!
- Reading about things you find interesting is fun!
- Increases your vocabulary!
- You learn new things!
#3 Cooking/Baking
It can be hard to do things like cook and bake when you’re unmotivated but, I know many people who also use cooking and baking to motivate themselves to be productive during the day because it can be fun and, you’re completing a daily task! Here is why you need to start cooking/baking.
- It’s a great gift to give to loved ones without spending too much money!
- There are endless options of food to cook or bake!
- You don’t need to order takeout or go to the restaurant, and you know the ingredients you’re putting in your food!
- It causes you to focus on one thing at a time so it will reduce stress!
- It will give you a sense of accomplishment!
#4 Scrapbooking
This is one of the greatest hobbies to have especially if you love doing crafts. To be honest I haven’t started this one, yet I have only done it once when I was younger, but I really want to get back into it for many reasons! Here’s why:
- It’s a great gift to give to loved ones!
- It’s awesome to have a lot of scrapbooks with all the good memories!
- It’s a fun activity to do with friends and family!
- It’s a great way to use old photographs!
#5 Colouring
This has always been a favorite hobby of mine! I have been colouring since I was in kindergarten. I know when you hear “colouring” you picture it as a kid activity but there are so many adult colouring books out there if that makes you comfortable! Here is why you should start colouring as a hobby:
- It’s a great way to ease stress and anxiety.
- It’s very fun! Always has been.
- Helps express yourself.
- It replaces negative thoughts with positive thoughts and many beautiful colours!
#6 Journaling
I have been journaling since I was young but sadly never kept any of my old journals! This has always been one of my biggest regrets. Here are many reasons why you need to start journaling:
- It’s a great way to wind down before bed, or a great way to motivate yourself if you write affirmations down and motivational words!
- Reduces anxiety and stress
- Can improve your handwriting!
- Boosts your memory!
- Journals are good memories to have for your future self!
